New software secures built-in passwords

Lieberman Software launched a product called Enterprise Random Password Manager (ERPM) that protects companies against malicious attacks on default credentials and enables IT staff to gain knowledge and control in securing privileged accounts against these attacks.

ERPM features a “known password discovery” detector that scans a network for default and well-known privileged logins. These types of logins are usually default credentials on hardware devices and are rarely changed. Because they’re also publicly known, they make systems more vulnerable because attackers know which passwords to use to gain unauthorized access to a network.

The ERPM software automatically secures these passwords and provides an audit trail to authorized IT administrators. It can also provide this information on demand.

Lieberman Software is showcasing this product at the RSA Conference in San Francisco this week.
