ARINC solution combines biometric, biographic information

ARINC, a provider of communication engineering and integration solutions, has developed an offering aimed at border control, according to a Security Park article.

The result of the development is an automated biometric gate that serve as physical access control as well as a biometric enrollment kiosk that collects biographical data as well as biometric data.

The reasoning for collecting both biographical and biometric is to increase the authentication information for those in registered traveler or International Civil Aviation Organization programs enabling manual checkers to better focus on the travelers not utilizing automatic checkpoints.

The new systems have already been installed by Vision-Box S.A., a biometrics and computing developer, in Portugal, the U.K. and Finland.
