NEC—in partnership with criminal justice and law enforcement solutions expert DataWorks Plus—has announced the introduction of the JNET Facial Recognition System to the Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET).

Using DataWork’s FACE plus software and NEC’s NeoFace facial recognition matching software to process and compare images, JNET’s new facial recognition system will provide justice information to nearly 40,000 Pennsylvania police officers statewide.

The new facial recognition system will span more than 800 law enforcement departments and state offices in Pennsylvania and will include more than 250 capture locations, 2.5 million arrest records and 38,000 Web retrieval users sharing data records and mug shot images from across the state.

The new system will enable officers to verify identities using either one-to-one or one-to-many search methods. The system has already aided Pennsylvania law enforcement in homicides, robberies, burglaries, identity theft and fraud.

The new facial recognition system will also feature Pennsylvania state watch list compatibility gathering suspect images from bank, ATM and retail security cameras, allowing for more effective and efficient suspect identification.
