National Electronic ID Programs to skyrocket, predicts Acuity

Acuity Market Intelligence predicts great opportunity in the global National Electronic ID (eID) market, as it is poised to create more than $11 billion by 2013. The number of countries with eID programs is also set to explode, with more than 70% growth predicted by 2015.
In its new report entitled “The Global National eID Industry Report,” Acuity looks at adoption rates of national ID programs. It predicts that 140 countries will have a National ID program by 2015, an increase of 11% over 2010.
Adoption rates for eID programs are strong in Europe, which has the highest adoption rates in terms of number of countries and implementation of eID programs. Asia will remain the strongest region in this market, with 400 million credentials and $7 billion in revenue by 2015.
The report includes analysis and forecasts for 2010 to 2015 for National eID credential volumes and revenues. Data is broken out globally, regionally and on a country level.
