Motorola’s newly developed ATRIX 4G Android powered mobile phone contains an embedded fingerprint sensor for use with security systems on the phone.
Chiefly among the biometric sensors purposes built in to the phone is as a biometric lockout on the phone in general with other security options including a drawn pattern, PIN or password.
If a user decides to set-up a biometric profile to lock the phone, he also is required to set a PIN for back-up in case the sensor malfunctions or becomes damaged so as to not lock the user out permanently.
Additionally, during the enrollment process, both left and right index fingers are recorded between three and eight times to ensure the phone has obtained a usable image of the fingerprint.
