Smart Card Alliance’s Payments Summit will feature credit giants AmEx, Discover, MasterCard and Visa as well as Isis and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to outline U.S. EMV migration and global payments trends.
The 6th annual installment of the Summit will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah Feb. 5-7 with pre-conference workshops to be held on Feb. 4 at the Grand America Hotel.
The three-day “all payments” event is set to feature senior experts from each of the transaction platforms: EMV card payments, mobile payments, and transit payments.
The opening day of the Summit will feature keynote presentations and discussion panels, while the remainder of the conference agenda will be divided amongst three simultaneous tracks with full question and answer sessions covering the following concerns:
-
EMV in the United States. The U.S. is the world’s largest payments ecosystem and the migration to EMV and the global secure payments standard has officially commenced. How can the industry provide clarity for banks, credit unions, issuers and merchants on the steps they need to take to make this migration successful?
-
NFC and Mobile Payments. Major NFC programs are underway with Google and Isis, and NFC-enabled handsets for consumers are now commercially available. How will the “wallet wars” evolve? Will virtual wallets in the cloud change the course ahead? Will consumers and retailers be responsive to the technology?
-
Transit Open Loop Payments. Transit operators from major cities nationwide have announced ambitious plans to upgrade their fare collection systems to move from the pilot stage to official rollouts accepting open bankcard payments that are expected to include contactless payment cards, stickers, and NFC-enabled mobile devices. Can smaller transit operators participate too? Which cities are going to be next? Which business strategy will shape the future for procurement and operations? How will mobile payments and EMV impact the transit industry?
The educational workshop set to take place on February 4th, is entitled “How EMV Changes Payment: Impact on Transit, Retail, and Mobile Acceptance Infrastructure.” Also offered will be meetings for the members-only EMV Migration Forum and a payments training course for those planning to take the Certified Smart Card Industry Professional (CSCIP) exam offered on February 6th.
