MacKay Meters announced that it has partnered with Uniform Industrial Corporation (UIC) to provide the first single-space wireless parking meter capable of contactless and NFC payments.

With the integration of UIC’s contactless card payment and NFC technology, the MacKay Guardian SOLO meter will be able to support most major contactless credit cards, including MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave, as well as coins, tokens and smart cards.

The SOLO will also integrate support for NFC mobile payments apps such as Google Wallet and ISIS.

According to MacKay, the company now has more than 500,000 meters in service worldwide in cities such as Hong Kong, Miami, Chicago, Ottawa, Vancouver, New York and San Francisco.
