Leo InnoTech, UPM large-scale item-level implementation at China apparel co.

Leo InnoTech (LIT) and UPM RFID have carried out a large-scale item-level RFID implementation for a Chinese apparel company focusing primarily on warehouse logistics optimization.

Leo Paper Group, LIT’s parent company, supplied the printing and lamination of RFID hang tags with embedded UPM DogBone and UPM ShortDipole ultra-high frequency inlays from UPM RFID.

Additionally, LIT set up gate-in and gate-out tunnels which apparel passes through accurately and reliably at an average 350 items within 20 seconds. For hanging garments, an automatic conveyor system classifies and controls garments to gates using RFID technology at a speed of 60 – 90 hanging garments every minute.

With RFID technology in place, the apparel manufacturer achieves noticeable savings in labor costs. Apparel items also pass through outbound logistics more accurately, and retail customers will receive fast and correct deliveries ensuring better customer service.
