Computer manufacturer Lenovo, biometrics developer AuthneTec and RSAhave partnered on a new high-level security solution for Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops.

The solution sees an AuthenTec TCS5 fingerprint sensor using RSA’s SecurID authentication algorithm integrated into Lenovo’s ThinkPad T410, X201, X201 tablet and W510 computers.

Lenovo is combining the embedded fingerprint scanner with a one-time passcode for authentication.

The solution is designed to work directly with Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software as well as secure a user’s access to VPNs, WLANS, e-mail, intranets, extranets and Web servers through one-time password generation that changes every sixty seconds.
