Legic unveils IDConnect
Legic had launched IDConnect, an ID aggregation service that enables a consumer to use a smart phone with any LEGIC advant and NXP mifare application. Mobile phones become door openers, tickets, time-recorders and more.
The idea of being able to do everything with a mobile phone that you can also do with a contactless chip card isn’t new. IDConnect is a single service assuming all activities: authentication, data processing and communication between the back-end system and mobile network operator.
The advant on mobile applet from LEGIC is also stored on the secure element of the mobile device. This way, LEGIC takes on the role of a service provider trusted service manager that is connected with the root TSM of a mobile network operator.
LEGIC IDConnect supports advant and NXP mifare and can be integrated in existing installations. The system is mobile network independent with regard to network operators, SIM providers, secure elements and wallet providers. It also supports NFC and Bluetooth Low Energy. With its API technology, LEGIC IDConnect can be integrated in back-end systems, whether access control, hotel property management or biometrics.

Study: Sharing password common in finance
Sharing passwords is common in the finance world with almost a quarter – 24% –of employees lending their credentials to other employees, according to a report from IS Decisions.
Frustration over security policies is the primary reason why employees share the passwords, 25%, and 10% admit to trying to find a workaround for security procedures. This findings, which are revealed in IS Decisions’ new report From Brutus to Snowden: a study of insider threat personas, suggest that the strict policy restrictions often required in finance are causing widespread frustration which in turn is leading to more common attempts to flout those restrictions.
Another area of concern in the finance sector is security policy around employee termination. Some 41% of finance sector workers claimed to have had access to a former employer’s data or systems after leaving a job, 5% higher than the cross-industry average 36%.
