LEGIC Identsystems Ltd. has expanded its partnership network by two, adding IT service provider Unisys and PCS Systemtechnik, a German hardware manufacturer and software publisher. Unisys will integrate LEGIC contactless technology into its access control security projects, while PCS, already a user of LEGIC products, will now be able to offer an extended portfolio of smart card technologies for personal identification.

For Unisys, the multi-application capability and modular expansion possibilities of LEGIC technology were factors for the license partnership.

“Our collaboration with LEGIC started with a comprehensive access and security concept that we were developing for our end customers,” said Philippe Spuehler, director business development at Unisys Switzerland. “The challenge was to fulfill very different requirements using innovative smart card technology, such as logical and physical access based on biometric characteristics, time and attendance and e-payment, giving priority to security. At the same time, we wanted a simple, scalable and future-proof platform. LEGIC Technology optimally supports access control and other personal identification service provider applications.”

“With Unisys, we gain another internationally recognized partner in the field of multi-applications, identity management and converged access for our growing network,” said Otto Eggimann, LEGIC’s vice president of sales and business development.

PCS’s current usage of LEGIC technology includes access control, time and attendance and biometrics. Increasing demand for LEGIC products from PCS end customers provided the initial impetus for this partnership.
