LEGIC announced it has received Common Criteria EAL 4+ security certificate for its card-in-card applet – a virtualized transponder chip for NFC smart phones and credit cards.

Common Criteria is an internationally-recognized standard (ISO 15408) that fully assesses a product’s security. The assessment is carried out independently and encompasses product safety during operation and protection during development and production.

LEGIC card-in-card solution consists of a virtualized transponder from the LEGIC advant family. The software solution offers all the functionalities of classic chip-based credential on high-end smartcard controllers. This makes it possible to use the LEGIC card-in-card solution on different platforms, such as credit cards, NFC smart phones and personal ID cards.

The EAL4+ certificate complies with an internationally-recognized security level and verifies that structures and processes are appropriate for the development and distribution of products with high security requirements.

At LEGIC, the assessment was made by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI); the product, development and manufacturing processes successfully passed the assessment.
