Kentucky adds MorphoTrust ID technology to new licenses

The state of Kentucky has started a pilot program in McLean County to provide more secure driver’s licenses and privacy when issuing the documents.

MorphoTrust USA has partnered with the state for this project and will provide new workstations, camera systems and security features in the licenses.

The new license features add multiple layers of security to the card. They are linked to each other so that counterfeiters must break more than one technology in order to duplicate the ID. This enables the card to self-authenticate and protects against counterfeiting and simulation, alteration, photo substitution and other tampering.

The card itself is a ExianEvident tamper-resistant/evident card structure. It incorporates bank-note level Guilloche and has a lifespan of ten years. The card’s features include an IDMarc Digital Watermark, a hologram and dual-side lamination.

Pilot installations are scheduled for Bourbon County on Aug. 9, followed by Anderson, Jefferson, Warren, Pulaski and McCracken counties throughout the rest of the month. After the pilot, a four-office-per-day installation will take place and will wrap in early October.
