Infineon Technologies has announced the availability of world’s first security chip solutions compliant to the open standard CIPURSE for public transport applications.

Infineon’s CIPURSE security chip and NFC Secure Element can now be used by public transport companies to issue interoperable contactless tickets, cards and mobile applications for fare payments. Infineon says these will be the first of several CIPURSE compliant products slated for release in the near future.

Infineon’s NFC Secure Element uses Single Wire Protocol (SWP), the standardized interface between a NFC SIM card and a NFC modem. According to Infineon, SWP can run up to 1.7 Mbit/s and supports all types of contactless transactions. The DCLB interface is a freely available and globally open solution offering a fast (848kbit/s) connection between an embedded Secure Element and a NFC modem.

CIPURSE, which was established by the Open Standard for Public Transportation (OSPT) Alliance, operates on standard infrastructures and does not require specific terminal and specific Trusted Service Management (TSM), according to Infineon.
