Mobile multi-factor authentication company PhoneFactor has developed a reseller partnership with Imprivata, a provider of sign-on and access management products for health care and other industries, to provide phone-based authentication services to Imprivata clients.

The joint solution works with Imprivata’s OneSign authentication and access management tool, as well as OneSign Anywhere, which provides OneSign services via a number of endpoint devices. This solution enables authorized users to access protected health information with a mobile phone.

Clinicians can use their existing phone for the authentication process. When logging into a hospital system, PhoneFactor will send the user an automated phone call or text message. The user replies to the message to enable the multi-factor authentication and gain access to the system. This process satisfies requirements from HIPAA, state pharmacy boards and other regulatory agencies.
