Hoyos Group has introduced its new handheld, portable iris scanning solution that they claim is the first geared towards consumer use, according to a CNN Money article. The device, called EyeLock, offers a USB connectable iris authentication service that will auto fill the password field for any password protected site online.
Additionally, as an added layer of security beyond simply utilizing biometrics, the EyeLock creates a unique numerical key that changes each time a user logs in via the device making one’s iris data virtually impossible to hack.
While the idea behind the device is certainly to better secure people’s online information, Hoyos officials hope that the device will be seen as a solution to the growing problem of people trying to remember more user names and passwords than they are able to.
EyeLock’s initial price point is $99 and has no announced release date yet.
