Hitachi unveils weldable RFID metal mount tag

Hitachi Information Systems has developed a RFID metal tag that can be welded and directly on to metal, thus alleviating risks associated with traditional installation methods with screws, fasteners and rivets.

The tag supports applications including plant equipment and construction machinery, where the tag may be attached or welded to metal fuel tanks and other equipment. It can also be used in conjunction with tracking software to facilitate efficient asset management.

The metal tag is durable against UV light and rainwater. Its robust metal materials and installation techniques also enable it to endure harsh cleaning such as sandblasting and high pressure water treatments.

Its compact design (22mm × 24mm × 5.3mm) allows for various mounting locations on pipes, construction equipment, or food and medicine containers. The tag also complies with international standards (ISO/IEC18000-6 Type C).
