Heartland Payment Systems’ Campus Solutions division announced the launch of CampusAssist, a Web-based communications tool that provides higher education institutions with an opportunity to stay better connected to their student body.
Wilfrid Laurier University, located in Ontario Canada first adopted CampusAssist as an effort to enhance the fan experience at its stadium events. The university has since expanding the offering for other campus communication needs, including security.
Powered by the GuestAssist platform, CampusAssist enables anonymous, one-to-one text messaging communications between students and their universities. Students can text their inquiries or feedback to a designated five-digit phone number monitored by the university’s CampusAssist Communications Center. Upon receipt of the message, universities can take real-time action, from providing instantaneous support to dispatching security and medical staff, as needed.
Suitable for a variety of campus needs including stadium events, dining services, security, residential life and parking, the technology is a direct response to the growing popularity of mobile devices as the preferred method of communication.
