Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, Ga., has implemented RightPatient, a patient identification solution designed to increase patient safety and medical data integrity from M2SYS Healthcare Solutions.
Archbold Memorial Hospital deployed the iris biometric system because it wanted an identification system that could help to prevent mix-ups, stop patient identity fraud, eliminate the creation of duplicate medical record and reduce billing errors. Administrators recognized that iris biometrics presented advantages in patient identification speed, accuracy, hygiene, real-time de-duplication search capability and data standardization.
The system is launching at Archbold’s flagship hospital with plans to expand the deployment to other medical facilities within their 540-bed network. Patients will be registered when they arrive for an appointment. The camera takes a photo of the patient as well as capturing the iris details.
RightPatient will be used in the hospital’s emergency department to identify patients. If the patient has been registered using the iris scanner, the system will automatically match that patient with their medical information. If the patient has not been registered Archbold we completes the iris scanning registration process, as well as our system registration. The iris scanning process takes less than a minute.
A similar deployment of RightPatient was done at Stuart, Florida-based Martin Health late last year.
