FDA Selects FileTrail RFID for National Solution

November 30, 2007 – FileTrail, Inc. today announced that the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has selected FileTrail RFID to track and manage for the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). FileTrail was selected in September as the result of an RFP for an RFID tracking solution to cover 15 district offices.

The FDA evaluated FileTrail and RFID technology after it was implemented in the San Francisco office in March of 2006. This solution leveraged Gen 2 RFID technology to automate tracking and management of audit files, case files, evidence and other items. Color-coded end tab labels will automate filing and retrieval, and prevent misfiles.

The FileTrail solution provides a completely browser-based interface. The browser tools are immediately familiar to staff, so training requirements are minimal.

“The RFID from FileTrail has been great. Staff are often apprehensive about a new technology, but the processes FileTrail has built are simple, efficient and very easy,” according to Mohammad Samimi, Quality Assurance Manager in the San Francisco District Office.

The FileTrail solution is a good fit for the FDA. FileTrail is used by many of the organizations that ORA is responsible for auditing, including Actelion, Amgen, GE Healthcare, Genentech, Sosei and others.
