Facebook acquires Face.com

Facebook is about to enhance its photo facial recognition capabilities, having yesterday announced its acquisition of Face.com.

Face.com’s technology is used by many developers in various mobile apps. The Facebook acquisition is hoped to give them more opportunities to develop new products and technologies.

The acquisition will also help Facebook’s push in the mobile sector with using mobile as a primary means of creating and sharing content. Face.com will add engaging ways to use facial recognition on Facebook’s platform.

Face.com intends to continue supporting the developer community and drive further development of facial recognition technology.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
