Eurofresh Farms has teamed up with workforce and human resources (HR) solutions provider Empower Software Solutions to improve employee productivity and to better account and manage pay for piece rate work.

The Arizona-based greenhouse grower employs more than 1,100 people and initiated piece rate pay incentives to improve employee productivity. Piece rate work rewards employees who perform at a higher level while maintaining strict quality guidelines.

Eurofresh produces more than 140 million pounds yearly of U.S. grown pesticide residue free tomatoes and cucumbers that are sold nationwide to major grocery retail chains and club stores. Together with RFID tags, EmpowerTime and EmpowerHR/Pay calculates an average of 150 entries a day per employee to gauge final employee pay.

As a result of initiating piece rate work technology and pay incentives, Eurofresh has seen employee productivity increase an average of 200-250%. Plus, its annual payroll management costs have decreased.
