India-based Essen unveiled a new integrated RFID antenna-reader that brings along its own power supply, the Xtenna packs an antenna, reader and a power supply into one package.

Essen touts the new device’s usefulness in isolated locations and over long distances, since it uses Power-over-Ethernet for transmission and converts sensitive analog RF signals to digital at the source, in order to eliminate any scope of loss or deterioration during data transmission.

Xtenna comes in several models which cover RFID bands across the EU, United States, China Korea and India. It’s RFID reader has multi-protocol capabilities that are compliant with future standards, offers a read range of up to 50 feet, supports Dense Reader Mode and can overcome multiple sources of signal interference.
