The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has selected ASK contactless smart cards, through its client ABBA, for 4.5 million ASK contactless smart cards in support of the city’s advanced multimodal ticketing system.
Nol Card is a smart card, based on NXP’s MIFARE DESFire chip, that enables commuters to pay for the use of various RTA transport modes in Dubai with a single card. The card can be used to travel on Dubai’s Metro, Buses, Water Buses, as well as pay for RTA’s Paid Parking.
Dubai commuters can buy or reload their contactless NOL cards at RTA’s premises and at more than 1,000 locations including selected shops and ATMs.
RTA will in the future extend NOL cards services to facilitate mobility throughout the city. Taxi operating under RTA’s supervision will accept payment with NOL cards. A park and ride program is also under way and will be launched next year with parking meters equipped with contactless readers accepting NOL cards
