Deutsche Telekom and MasterCard have announced a partnership to enable Deutsche Telekom’s 93 million mobile customers across Europe to make NFC mobile payments.

The first consumer roll out will take place in Poland later this year, followed by Germany. The trial will initially involve mobile phone tags and cards, then move on to a mobile wallet service that will be open to other issuing banks and partners in the first half of 2013.

According to the partners, the mobile wallet solution will be SIM-based, and each transaction will be confirmed via text message. As per the agreement, Deutsche Telekom will issue the MasterCard products across Europe via its subsidiary ClickandBuy.
