Czech Republic extends Trüb passport contract

The Czech Republic has extended the contract of Trüb for secure polycarbonate data pages with embedded chip for electronic passports.

The cooperation with the Czech Republic began in 2006 with the supply of polycarbonate data pages with embedded chips implementing the basic access control standard. In April 2009, the Czech Republic started issuing a new passport with biometric data, based on extended access control. The chip on this second-generation passport stores the personal data, a facial image and two fingerprints of the document holder.

With this travel document the Czech Republic was one of the first EU Member States to implement the new regulation. Major aims are to combat fraud and falsification more effectively and to ensure a reliable identification of the document holder.

Key element of the passport is the polycarbonate data page with embedded chip supplied by Trüb AG. The Czech passports are produced and personalized by the State Printing Works of Securities in Prague.

Data pages from Trüb AG are made of fused polycarbonate films, equipped with a variety of built-in security features and optically personalized by laser engraving. The data page, attached to the passport booklet through a patented and robust page-binding element, is qualified over a 10-year lifespan.
