Cubic’s open payment system run by the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) will be on display and featured at the Smart Card Alliance Transportation Council Meeting, nearly one year after its launch.
The PATCO Speedline is a rapid transit system that runs from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Camden County, New Jersey. The open payment system accepts the four major card brands in any contactless form, including a virtual card in an NFC-enabled smart phone wallet, as well as accepting the transit’s agency-branded, contactless Visa prepaid card.
The Visa prepaid payment card, the Wave & Pay ANYWHERE Card, debuted on September 26, 2011, allowing consumers the ability to use the same transit payment card for both transit and retail purchases at any retailer that accepts debit or credit payments.
The annual gathering of public transportation executives and industry technology suppliers, sponsored in part by Cubic, includes two days of presentations and roundtable discussions on the trends in fare payment that are driving new fare collection system implementations.
Hosted by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), the Smart Card Alliance Transportation Council Meeting is being held September 18 – 19 in Philadelphia, PA.
