Compu-Power, an information technology firm that has focused on the tire industry, has announced the formation of a business unit dedicated to its growing RFID application offerings. The new unit, to be called RFID-Pros, will specialize in applications utilizing the company’s ASSETracs software system.

Compu-Power’s roster of RFID-enabled solutions include applications for vehicle access tracking and control, manufacturing, WIP control, shipping and receiving, non-invasive pet tagging, and file-tracking. According to a spokesperson for the company, the new business unit will increase Compu-Power’s efforts in those categories along with research and development efforts toward new RFID applications.

Compu-Power partnered with RFID developer Intermec in 2001, and over the past few years the partnership has expanded, resulting in a range of applications using Compu-Power’s system integration and software development expertise combined with Intermec’s RFID and wireless technologies.
