Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton wants the RFID-infused, passport card being pushed as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, to go under the microscope for some serious scrutiny.

The People Access Security Service, or Pass card, is a joint initiative of the Homeland Security and State departments, reports Washington Technology. It is being proposed as an alternative to passports for U.S. citizens, Mexicans and Canadians who frequently cross the borders.

Privacy, economic viability, and security are among Sen. Clinton’s top concerns, expressed in a letter to the administration issued Dec. 15.
