Cleveland Clinic selects RFID-based records system

The Cleveland Clinic, a major academic medical center, has selected an RFID-enabled solution from Infolinx System Solutions to manage and track the records in its study-related patient files.

The clinic will use Infolinx’s flagship product, InfolinxWEB, to track its paper-based records throughout the paperwork’s life cycle, from creation to disposal. Infolinx, a provider of enterprise physical records management software as well as information management consulting services, will partner with filing and storage specialists Central Business Group to provide the solution.

Often ranked one of the U.S.’s top hospitals, Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit, academic medical center that combines clinical and hospital care with research and education. It has 1,800 physicians and scientists on staff, several million patient visits per year, and facilities worldwide, creating ample records for the Infolinx to organize and track.

Record tracking systems with built-in data security and audit trail history functions such as Infolinx’s are increasingly in demand due to the introduction of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) with its requirements for protecting the privacy of confidential patient information.
