City of Apopka adds authentication for CJIS compliance

The City of Apopka in Florida has contracted with Zvetco Biometrics to deploy its P4500 biometric fingerprint reader with Authasa enterprise grade biometric software in order to comply with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) mandates at the state and federal level.

Zvetco and Viable Solutions Inc. will provide and install a turn-key solution for secure mobile access to information to aid in compliance with the FBI’s CJIS mandates that require agencies to enforce unique IDs, strong passwords and comply with the CJIS Advanced Authentication requirement by 2013. Those that don’t comply suffer from lack of access to CJIS systems and other potential penalties.

The City of Apopka chose the Zvetco system because it could be integrated within a Novell eDirectory environment. The Zvetco scanners have the ability to connect to the city’s VDI and physical workstations. The city also incorporated Zvetco’s Verifi fingerprint readers and Authasas Biometric Authentication to its desktops.
