Cedar Rapids Public Library has implemented a new RFID automated materials handling system, reports Eastern Iowa Life.

When an item is dropped into the item return it lands on a conveyor belt using RFID technology to determine where the item belongs and dispenses it in the appropriate bin.

CRPL added that they system also reduces the number of repetitive motion injuries to staff and increases the amount of time staff spend planning and facilitating programs, doing reference and research, and working with customers.
