California-based BridgePoint Systems has introduced its TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader for physical access control systems.

With the TrustPoint product, users enter a PIN into the reader. The reader then performs a biometric finger scan and completes a one-to-one match between it and the biometric template stored on a PIV credential, a process that takes less than two seconds. The smart card reader also verifies the templates digital signature.

Security options for the reader include biometric, PIN and optional PKI challenge-response authentication. Its PKI compatibility design can authenticate PIV credentials and mitigate electronic cloning.

The reader incorporates SecuGen’s SDA04 PIV compliant fingerprint OEM module. The reader also features a telephone-style keypad, a 2 line by 16 character display, a stainless steel conduit port and a USB programming port. Its weather-resistant and includes dual tamper switches to detect unauthorized removal.

BridgePoint will have the TrustPoint reader on display at ISC West in Las Vegas next week.
