Aware sells patents to Intel for $75 million

In an effort to sell and/or license part of its patent portfolio, Massachusetts-based Aware Inc. has signed an agreement to sell some of its patents and patent applications to Intel Corporation for $75 million.

The software and technology supplier for the biometrics, telecommunications and health care industries has opted to sell Intel some of its patents and patent applications relating to WiFi (802.11n/ac), LTE and wireline home networking.

The deal is subject to closing conditions and regulatory approval.

As reported on ZDNet, Aware is selling its patents in order to focus on creating software.
