Austrian bank opts for Gemalto security

Austria’s VKB-Bank has chosen to implement Gemalto’s Ezio Edge Optic strong authentication as its security method for the bank’s eBanking service.

Ezio Edge Optic does not require additional software, as it reads directly from a computer screen, tablet or mobile device. It uses smart debit card security to authorize eBanking transactions.

The device is designed to be portable, and account holders use it by placing the device in front of the screen. It then reads the securely encoded transaction data needed for verification and transaction signature generation displayed on the screen. After verification, customers can safely conduct online banking transactions.

VKB-Bank will make the reader available to customers at all of its branch offices.
