Athena Smartcard Solutions and id3 Technologies have created a partnership for match on card smart card technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, Athena will integrate id3′s match on card algorithm, embedding it into all of its operating systems and cards. The algorithms will work with both JavaCard-based and proprietary operating systems. Athena will also use id3′s extractor for fingerprint analysis and storage.

The partnership enable match-on-card environments for fingerprint comparison and biometric identification without the need to connect to a terminal or remote server.

Athena’s smart cards are geared to enterprise security and government identity situations.
