Polish Security Printing Works has signed a contract to supply and distribute e-IDs and biometric passports in the Republic of Armenia.

First announced in November 2010, the project calls for some 300,000 blank biometric passports and a million e-IDs to be delivered to Armenia over the next five years. As part of the contract, the company will also supply the software as well as the necessary equipment to operate the new technology.

After delivery, the central personalization of the documents will take place in Yerevan, with additional maintenance services provided by Polish Security Printing Works in cooperation with the Armenian partner.

The production of the IDs and passports is not the first contract performed by Polish Security Printing Works in the Republic of Armenia, according to the company. In June, the company implemented a digital tachograph system and will supply personalized tachograph cards to the country over the next five years.

Polish Security Printing Works says it has also supplied biometric passport systems for Lithuania and Bangladesh.
