Data input technology company Access IS has become a strategic partner with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) so that it can help develop a standard to enable the airline industry to adopt NFC technology for secure, efficient passenger processing.
Access IS plans to work with IATA’s Fast Travel Working Group, which is looking at ways to simplify the process of boarding passengers, making it cheaper and more efficient.
Access IS believes NFC technology is the future for advancing these initiatives and hopes to play a role in its adoption across the industry.
Access IS makes boarding gate readers (BGRs) and passport readers. Its BGRs can now be upgraded to operate in an NFC environment if the unit’s base is an NFC-enabled version.
