Accells Technologies get U.S. patent for smart authentication of mobile transactions

Accells Technologies has announced that is has been awarded the “System and method for secure transaction process via mobile device” patent, which will protect Accells mobile ID for smart authentication of mobile transactions.

This, the latest patent in Accells’ rise in the authentication sector, further cements the Israel-based cybersecurity specialist as a player in mobile transactions. With the number of transactions being made from mobile devices increasing by the day, secure authentication is absolutely vital. Accells’s use of smart authentication goes beyond token-based solutions, which often fail to provide manageable, user-friendly solutions for mobile transactions.

Additionally, as technologies in the mobile payments sectors have evolved, some mobile network operators have admitted that SMS one-time password services no longer provide adequate security.

Accells boasts that its smart authentication solution is easy to use and offers businesses more adaptive security functions. Also, the solution is less expensive than many existing security solutions and is well aligned with IT trends — specifically bring your own device (BYOD).

Accells’ list of acquired patents cover the following:

  • Two-party authentication of a mobile app – by its backend server and an authentication system – using network topology and location information

  • Out-of-band authentication to secure mobile-based transactions

  • Multi-factor authentication of transactions via PCs or tablets using network topology information

  • Out-of-band authentication of closed-loop transactions using NFC
